Principal
This year marks my 22nd year at West High and my seventh year serving as principal. Over those years, I have had the privilege of watching thousands of students walk through our doors, discover their passions, develop their talents, build lifelong relationships, and leave West prepared to make our world a better place. I am extremely honored and incredibly proud to be part of this remarkable school community.
West High has a longstanding tradition of excellence, and at the foundation of that excellence is our outstanding and dedicated faculty and staff. Our educators bring tremendous expertise, passion, and commitment to their work each day. They are truly second to none.
Beyond the classroom, our award-winning performing and fine arts programs allow students to discover and showcase their creativity. Our championship athletic programs build teamwork, perseverance, and school pride. From music, theater, journalism, and debate to athletics, student leadership, service organizations, and a wide variety of clubs and activities, there is truly a place for every student to get involved and to find their community.
What I love most about West is our diversity. It is at the heart of all that we do. We are incredibly proud of our community and believe it is one of our greatest strengths. Our students and families represent a remarkable range of cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, creating a school where the world can truly be found at West.
After more than two decades at West, I continue to be inspired by our students, our outstanding faculty and staff, our families, and our community. Alongside my tremendous administrative team, it is an honor to serve as principal of a school where excellence is a tradition, diversity is celebrated, opportunities are everywhere, and every student has the opportunity to thrive

About West High
West High opened its doors in 1968 to a growing Iowa City west side community. Today, West High School is a vibrant and diverse community of approximately 1,550 students and 100 dedicated educators. We are proud of our longstanding tradition of excellence and our commitment to providing every student with the opportunities, support, and experiences they need to thrive.
Recognized by US News & World Report, Niche, and other organizations as the #1 high school in Iowa and one of the top high schools in the country, West students annually lead the state in ACT results, National AP Scholars, and National Merit Scholars. Our students are challenged through rigorous and engaging coursework, supported by outstanding educators, and encouraged to think critically, explore their interests, and prepare for success in college, career, and life.
