Meet Our
Principal
West High has been a dynamic institution since opening in 1968, and I am very pleased to be part of the tradition of excellence that has been built here. To meet the challenge of educating our students, we have a fantastic group of teachers, administrators, secretaries, paraprofessionals, custodians, and kitchen workers who number nearly 200 strong.
The administrative team is an outstanding one. My office is located in the Main Office, and I can be reached at (319) 688-1050 or by email. The main office, phone number (319) 688-1050, also houses Assistant Principals Jenny Eustice, Maureen Head and Elizabeth Bruening. They have a great track record supporting students, parents, and teachers. Athletic Director, BJ Mayer, can be reached at (319) 688-1055 or by email for any questions involving our extracurricular programs.

About West High
West High opened its doors in 1968 to a growing Iowa City west side community. Today, reflecting the continued growth in the west side communities, more than 1,500 students attend West High. The west side community prides itself in both the consistent high achievement of our students and the exemplary quality of our staff.
West High is recognized at the local, state, and national levels as a leader in the quality of education provided for students. West students annually lead the state in ACT results, National AP Scholars, and National Merit Scholars. A culture of excellence at all levels pervades the school community with a continued focus on raising the bar for all students. New engineering programs offered in collaboration with the University of Iowa, and specialized educational academies provided in partnership with Kirkwood Community College, reflect the high value placed on educational innovations and academic excellence.
